Developmental Benefits for Young Children
Pottery painting is particularly well-suited to toddlers and preschoolers, as it gently supports key areas of early years development:
-
Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination — Holding brushes and painting strengthens small muscles and helps prepare children for writing and self-care tasks.
-
Creativity and self-expression — Children freely explore colours, patterns, and ideas, building imagination and confidence.
-
Cognitive development — Choosing designs and planning their piece encourages early problem-solving and decision-making.
-
Focus, calm and emotional wellbeing — The gentle, absorbing activity helps children regulate emotions and gives them a lovely sense of achievement.
-
Social skills and communication — Group sessions encourage sharing ideas, talking about their creations, and celebrating each other’s work.

Session Details
-
Sessions last 90 minutes in total (15 minutes setup + 60 minutes storybook and painting + 15 minutes tidy-up).
-
We can combine pottery painting with storybook time for a richer experience. For example, reading the much-loved book Zog and having each child paint their own dragon.
-
All pottery figures are chosen and agreed with your staff in advance. These can be seasonal or directly linked to your chosen storybook.
-
Each child’s pot is clearly personalised with their name and any extra details requested, so there’s no mix-up when they go home.
-
We bring everything needed and handle all setup and tidy-up.
